English version

Jokers is the new album by the musically broadly oriented accordionist Vincent Peirani, a master of his instrument.

After several collaborations with saxophonist Émile Parisien (on the CD Sfumato Live in Marciac with the wonderful guitarist Manu Codjia), pianist Michael Wollny and his own band Living Berlin, accordionist Vincent Peirani decided it was time for a new challenge: the trio. And not a standard trio, but a trio with Italian guitarist Federico Casagrande and Israeli drummer Ziv Ravitz, who lives in New York. With Peirani himself on accordion, clarinet, keyboard, glockenspiel and vocals. The trio Peirani, Casagrande, Ravitz arose a few years ago at the invitation of the NDR radio station in Germany, gave about 30 concerts, experimented with repertoire and electronics, resulting in a new metier within improvised music. This resulted in the groundbreaking and adventurous album Jokers. The music is like a labyrinth, where the instruments alternately seek each other out, discover each other, complement each other colorfully and then playfully repel. Solid drums, tight guitar work and vibrating accordion are complemented by electronics, which sprinkle the music with an innovative and contemporary metier. Beautiful is the driving accordion under the guitar solo in Salsa Fake (Peirani) followed by the accordion solo in half-time of the drums. The (melodic) third relationship in Les Larmes de Syr is also beautiful, in which the piece, after modulation, ascends to an exciting climax. Great jazz-rock sounds in Copy of A (Nine Inch Nails) followed by the long guitar lines in the tight composition in Twilight (comp. Casagrande), interspersed with an exciting accordion. To become really happy with the ostinato rhythm with catchy drums, synth-sounds and guitar solo. The album is full of wonderful musical delights. Jokers is one of the best jazz albums of recent times. The compositions are fresh, surprising, original, virtuoso and played with ease. What else do you want!
