English version below

A taste of culture is van muzikaal hoog niveau, zonder ge-freak of ego-tripperij.

English version

The trio Montis, Goudsmit & Directie forms a close unity on Hammond organ, guitar and drums / percussion. With a fantastic and excellent musical diction you are blown away with the music on their début album Taste of Culture.

Taste of Culture is a great CD from three experienced musicians. We already met Hammond organist Frank Montis with the band Gare du Nord. We heard guitarist Anton Goudsmit with his own band The Ploctones and as a guest musician with the New Cool Collective and BRUUT. Drummer Cyril Directie played among others with Hans Dulfer and the pop group Kane. For a number of years these three gentlemen performed live on stage and then decided to record an album. A fine decision, because now they are fully progressed in their music. This trio is a fantastic match. The music, the arrangements are so good and put close together. A tight unit in which Hammond, guitar and drums complement each other beautifully. Funky, soul, gospel, rock and ballad, it all sounds wonderfully tight. In addition to a lot of own work, we hear Living For The City by Stevie Wonder and Al Green’s classic Let’s stay together with which Tina Turner had a big hit in 1983. The piece Jan is dedicated to guitarist Jan Akkerman (from the band Focus) who can also be heard solo in this composition. Musically of a high level, without freaking around or ego-trippery. This début album A taste of culture is of a high level of music. This music is not a matter of taste, this is unparalleled excellent!
