Pracht CD!

English version

The Breton violinist Jacky Molard is a researcher and pioneer who’s always searching for new musical ways. His musical entrepreneurial spirit is not limited to the West-French musical landscape, but extends over a wide range of music types and styles. Yet, he constantly returns to his folk roots and does not deny his musical background.

Jacky Molard is a musical citizen of the world who, in recent years, recorded music with Erik Marchand and Les Balkaniks (‘Pruna’ from 2004) and recorded the album ‘N’Diale’ with the Malian singer Foune Diarra in 2010. And now there is the new album ‘Mycelium’ on which he continues on the same level: the discovery of new sounds, such as the Oriental color in ‘Jabiru’, alienated film music in the title piece ‘Mycelium’, a chase scene full of antics of soprano and baritone in ‘An Nouveau’ and a klezmer touch in the final piece ‘Précautions d’Usage’. All music is played with a verve and enthusiasm. On violin, alto / soprano sax, diatonic accordion and contrabass, supplemented with baritone saxophone, flute, electric guitar and percussion we hear convincing and self-confident pieces that are very versatile. The Jacky Molard Quartet delivers a very varied CD: a lot fun and pleasure for listening. Great record!
