Zomer 2014 kwam zijn veertiende cd ‘The Son of a Bluesman‘ uit.

English version

Lucky Peterson (1964/New York) recorded thirteen solo albums on which he plays a mix of blues, funk, soul and gospel. He gave concerts with the legendary singers Etta james en Mavis Staples. In the summer of 2014 he released his 14th album ‘The Son of a Bluesman‘.

Lucky Peterson grew up with the blues by his father’s (James Peterson) nightclub. The legendary Willy Dixon, of the famous record label Chess and the writer of the monster hits ‘Little Red Rooster’ and Spoonful’, recognized the talent of the young five year old Lucky who performed in his father’s nightclub. Dixon arranged some concerts at Ed Sullivan’s and the The Tonight Show. Lucky, who started playing the French Horn, swithced to guitar and keyboard (organ/piano). On his new record he plays both instruments and is also the singer on most of the pieces. Except a few were sung by his wife Tamara Stoval Peterson (wonderful ‘Joy‘). Coherent music, spontanious and pure. Very rhytmic and tight, in a few pieces added with brass trio. Exciting is the guitar of Peterson and his smooth organ work (‘You Lucky Dog’) is really lovely. Great how he fills the interludes and singing breaks, like Stevie Ray Vaughan. He plays a lot of own compositions, with the classic one ‘I can see clearly now’ and the great tender last song, the gospel piece ‘I’m still here’ with an exuberant Peterson: to see live at the North Sea Jazz Club Amsterdam august 3rd 2014.
