English version below

Antoinette Lohmann is a broad oriented violinist from The Netherlands who musically moves between chamber music, Argentine tango, folk, music theater and contemporary music. In between she teaches at the Conservatories of Utrecht and Amsterdam and has a great interest in lesser-known instruments such as the viola d’amore, the viola pomposa, the violino piccolo, the tenor violin and the wooden-shoe violin. She is also regularly looking for unknown (Dutch) repertoire. During the Corona lockdown she discovered in the Di Martinelli and Kromēriz collections great compositions. A selection from these two music books resulted in this beautiful new album. A double CD containing, in addition to two works by Heinrich Döbel and Johann Schmelzer, many anonymous pieces. Antoinette Lohmann is a master violinist with great spontaneity. Her playing is tight, bright and cheerful and full of joy. She is beautifully accompanied by harpsichordist Jörn Boysen and in two Thesauri inventio by cellist Maria Sánchez Ramírez. It’s absolutely great to listen to a CD where the music really fits, where musicians know what they are doing and let the music (from around 1700) sound as it was intended.
