English version

The music of the German guitarist Lancy Falta moves beautifully on the dividing line between Hot-club-de-France and the jazz-fusion of the 80s.

From the age of 10, the German guitarist Lancy Falta learned how to play the guitar from his father Bobby, with whom he later founded the Falta Duo. In recent years Lancy has become one of the most talented (gypsy) jazz guitarists. The pieces on his new album Lancy Lot are his own compositions, except for The Days of Wine and Roses by Henry Mancini and the beautiful solo piece For Django, written by the Hungarian guitarist Costa Luckacs. In a refined way his compositions move at the intersection of Pat Metheny (Bobby’s Soul and Lancy Lot), Django Reinhardt (For Django and an excellent solo in In the Fields) and Weather Report, in which keyboardist Koono (Kuno Schmid) also plays a large part! He colors his keyboards nicely in the style of Joe Zawinul as in For Miles and certainly also synthesizer use in the title piece. In addition to Koono, Falta is assisted by the tight bassist Carles Benavent and innovative drummer Alex Acuña. It’s nice how this versatile guitarist colors his playing and guitar timbre to the different style he plays. He effortlessly supplements this with his dexterous solos, such as in Diego, where his solo has a reference to Al di Meola. Although the album Lancy Lot is rather a look back to the past, with a slightly nostalgic timbre, the self-assurance and musical flexibility makes the album very worthwhile!
