Goleine is een folk-pop kwartet uit Limburg dat met een sterke bezetting twaalf nieuw gecomponeerde liedjes zingt op hun debuut-album.

Het kwartet Goleine bestaat uit zangeres Charlotte Haesen, contrabassist: Peter Willems, pianist: Mike Roelofs en gitarist: Philip Breidenbach (dus geen drums). Bovendien zijn alle leden voortreffelijke zangers.
De groep ontstaat als de leden, op instigatie van Haesen, elkaar ontmoeten in mei 2023. Gemeenschappelijke deler blijkt de voorliefde voor vocale muziek te zijn, die bij hun eerste ontmoeting overduidelijk naar voren kwam. Een compacte meerstemmigheid die ook het speerpunt is van het album. De groep is in staat hun vocalen als één kleur te laten versmelten, loepzuiver getimed en gezongen. Waar tweestemmigheid organisch overschakelt naar vier vocalen. Toegegeven, de opname(techniek) is hierbij ook niet onbelangrijk, maar toch klinken deze vier stemmen zó hecht, dat dit onmiskenbaar hun vakkundigheid laat horen en enigszins doet denken aan Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (en Joni Mitchell).
Alhoewel alle leden ruimschoots hun sporen hebben verdiend binnen de jazz- en geïmproviseerde muziek, slaan ze met dit debuut-album een nieuwe weg in. De CD bestaat uit folk-pop georiënteerde composities die muzikaal verder reiken dan de gangbare folk: waar onverwachte harmonische wendingen (Signs), innovatieve meerstemmigheid (War in Me) en vooral de overtuigende, muzikale rust zo opmerkelijk zijn. Alle arrangementen zijn open en transparant, waardoor de muziek kalmte en zelfs bezinning uitstraalt. Naarmate het album vordert, wordt de muziek van Goleine iets pittiger en neigt deze zelfs richting een akoestische versie van Southern Rock in Houston in the blinds en klinkt er een soul-gospel-feel in het slotlied To Face it all with You. De stukken zijn gecomponeerd door de leden van de groep en worden gezongen in het engels, afwisselend een- en meerstemmig.
Fraai zijn daarbij de omspelingen tussen de vocalen, waar vooral piano en gitaar de melodie aanvullen en omspelen, met korte riffs en ferme solo’s. Zoals Roelofs laat horen op piano en vooral Fender Rhodes in Yes! Yes! en Rome en Breidenbach op gitaar in Hush en Rome.
Goleine is een kwaliteitskwartet van doorgewinterde musici dat met subtiele muziek de folk-pop op zijn grondvesten laat trillen!

Goleine is a folk-pop quartet from Limburg (Southern Netherlands) that sings twelve newly composed songs on their debut album with a strong line-up.
The quartet Goleine consists of singer Charlotte Haesen, double bassist: Peter Willems, pianist: Mike Roelofs and guitarist Philip Breidenbach (so no drums). In addition, all members are excellent singers.
The group was formed when the members, at Haesen’s instigation, met each other in May 2023. The common denominator turns out to be the love for vocal music, which was clearly evident at their first meeting. A compact polyphony that is also the spearhead of the album. The group is able to let their vocals merge like óne color, in perfect timing and precision. Where two-part harmony organically switches to four vocals. Admittedly, the recording (technique) is important here either, but these four voices still sound so close that this unmistakably shows their expertise and is somewhat reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (and Joni Mitchell).
Although all members have more than earned their spurs in jazz and improvised music, they are taking a new path with this debut album. The CD consists of folk-pop oriented compositions that musically reach further than the usual folk: where unexpected harmonic twists (Signs), innovative polyphony (War in Me) and especially the convincing, musical tranquility are so remarkable. All arrangements are open and transparent, which makes the music radiate calm and even contemplation. As the album progresses, Goleine’s music becomes a bit spicier and even tends towards an acoustic version of Southern Rock in Houston in the blinds and a soul-gospel feel can be heard in the last song To Face it all with You. The pieces are composed by the members of the group and are sung in English, alternately monophonic and polyphonic.
The interplay between the vocals is beautiful, where piano and guitar in particular complement and play around the melody, with short riffs and firm solos. As Roelofs shows on piano and especially Fender Rhodes in Yes! Yes! and Rome and Breidenbach on guitar in Hush and Rome.
Goleine is a quality quartet of seasoned musicians who, with subtle music, make folk-pop vibrate to its foundations!
