English version below

English version

With his new album Rumbason, guitarist and singer Antoine ‘Tato’ Garcia excels in a wide palette of flamenco and Latin.

Music always played a big part in the gypsy’s life. That’s what made singer and guitarist Antoine ‘Tato’ Garcia a great artist. He grew up in Perpignan, a French city at the Pyrenees, on the border with Spain. Weddings, baptisms, affiance or birthdays are occasions where music is indispensable and is played often ’till daybreak. At the age of 7 Garcia learned to play the guitar and performed with his brother José. Over the years he has created his own style which can be heard in groups such as Tékaméli (including the beautiful album Yda Y Vuelta, released in 1999), the energetic sextet Kaloomé and the exciting orchestra Ciocarlia. On his new album Rumbason, Gracia explores the boundaries of Catalan rumba, Cuban rhythms supplemented with a touch of jazz. The result is melodic music, which clearly carries the rumba, with the characteristic flamenco vocals of Antoine ‘Tato’ Garcia. But it is the combination, with the use of the chord changes, the melodious melodies and the Latin rhythm that gives the music wings. A swirling mix in which both cultures are combined coherent. Passionately played and sung with beautiful harmonic vocals, tight rhythms and inspiring guitar playing by the master himself.
