English version

The Argentinian guitarist Carlos Moscardini plays a fine mix of folk from Argentina, jazz and classical music. In 2012 his album ‘Silencios del Suburbio‘ was released. A solo recording with some adds on piano, bandoneon, bombo (drum) and string quartet.

Carlos Moscardini (1958) has a striking way of playing; pointed and percussive. ‘Barrido’ he calls it. Muting the strings with his left hand (like Por Otros Caminos) and full in control he turns the music into a rhythmic piece. His touché is lovely and sharp. He pulls the strings at the right side, on the edge of the guitar hole, near the bridge. A place where the string is uptight. Moscardini was born in Buenos Aires, studied at the Conservatory Julián Aguirre and released his first album in 1997. His second ‘Buenos Aires de Raíz’ (2005) gave him national fame. ‘Silencios del Suburbio‘ (Silence in the Suburb) is from 2012. A recording with new composed pieces by Moscardini, mixed with folk from Argentinian, jazz and classical music. Adventurous theme’s which sound like the beauty of traditional. Melodies are a so self-evident played on guitar in a passionate way. Special is the string quartet in a few pieces who add a lovely warm blanket around the music. Like the piano and the bandoneon. ‘Silencios del Suburbio‘ is an intensive album from an inspired musician who also is a wonderful singer, but (unfortunate) just in one song. The wonderful ‘Campo Nuestro‘ (Our Land) from the Argentinian poet Oliverio Girondo (1891-1967). Yes, only one song, that’s a pity and that tastes like more!
