English version below

Edwin Vanvinckenroye is Flemish violinist who became wellkown with the experimental folk group Troissoeur (with his brothers Joris and Rein) and later with Tribe. He is an improvising musician, a violinist who played with the singer Yungchen Lhamo from Tibet, the Japanese taiko drummer Joji Hirota, the Indian musician Druba Ghosh, the world orchestra Olla Vogala (conducted by Vandenabeele with whom he also played in Trio Viool) and the Galician group Laïs. All these different collaborations extend his musical horizon to a mix of alternative pop, ambient-, folk and world and minimal music. The violin is always the centre and the heart of his music, on which he plays pizzicato and with the bow, polyphonic and solo; producing ‘open‘ melodies that easily fit into minimal music. On the first album ‘Silent Music‘ of the double CD ‘Silent Music / Renascens’ he is assisted by a number of guest musicians on piano, viola and backing vocals, but it’s still the violin that connects beautifully all the voices and harmonies to one another. His vocals are both in some kind ‘English’ and (polyphony) phonetically and sometimes a bit solemn. The 2nd album ‘Renascens’ is a solo record on which Vanvinckenroye plays solo violin and sing, complemented with foot percussion. In addition, he edited his fiddle with some kind ‘paper‘ inlay (‘Masat‘) whereby the tone gets a grainy texture. On this album he sings in kind of ‘English’ and Flemish (‘Ogen‘) and also phonetically which makes his voice sometimes sound like an instrument in a duo with the violin. Edwin Vanvinckenroye is a colourful musician who shows a beautiful musical palette on his new records ‘Silent Music / Renascens‘!
