English version

Guitar player Gustavo Pazos Conde was born in Uruguay but lives in the Netherlands for years now. In 2012 he released his sixth solo album Caraguata‘. Now, four years later, he released his exciting ‘Estación Edén‘. A lyrical album with the background of the zamba, chacarera and milonga.

Gustavo Pazos Conde is a musical storyteller. He plays beautiful the past of the gauchos, the descendants of Spaniards and Indians living on the pampas (plains) in Uruguay and Argentina and had ivestock farming. On ‘Estación Eden‘ most of the pieces were composed by Pazos but there are also compositions by Antonio Pereira Arias, Abel Fleury and Mariano Melgar. The last one is a Peruvian poet and musician who lived in the early 19th century and is best known because of the yaravi: sentimental songs from the pre-Hispanic era to the 16th century. Pazos is a passionate musician whose guitar shines in the slow pieces such as ‘Delirio’, ‘Triste Mayor para un delirio antiguo‘ or ‘A flor de llanto’. His guitar resonates deeply and he lifts the melody gracefully above the accompany part. This tranquility gives the music a wonderful depth that is sometimes lost in the faster passages. Particularly attractive is ‘La Llegada‘, the 4th part of the suite Linea Oeste. He hits the lower strings of his guitar and plays the melody: this imagions that you are listen to two guitarists. On a natural way Gustavo Pazos Conde’s music sounds nostalgic with a fine dose of nostalgic air. This melange makes it a lovely record!
