Jekyll and Sister Hyde’. Amore Libero’ weergaloos is!

English version

The third album ‘Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde‘ by the Dutch B-Movie Orchestra is sparkling CD. A lovely range of sounds, mostly with music of European B-movies. Music from the 60s and 70s in a swirling cocktail of blues, rock, bossa nova, classical, funk and psychedelia. Energetic and played with verve!

Two years after the release of the second album the B-Movie Orchestra is back again with the splendid ‘Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde‘. The opening track sets the mood. A thrilling chase in ‘Beat Fuga Shake’ written by the Italian film composer Riz Ortolani. This tension remains palpable throughout the entire album. Sometimes subcutaneous stinging, tingling, erotic, hallucinatory and melancholic. Nine musicians and several guest musicians give a cinematic suggestive movie, occasionally supplemented with live score sounds mixed in the music. Beautiful are the four singers (The Cinematic Fever Girls) who sing phonetically themes that especially is amazing in the last song ‘Ibo Lele AKA Amore Libero’! The compositions (mostly from European B-movies) are so strong and played so convincingly that the movie pictures are already within music. The B-Movie Orchestra plays this timeless music so well and add some fine tight solos, screaming guitars, a lovely brass section and crackling bubbling organs and synthesizers. The group was formed in 2009 by drummer Baz Mattie (Junkie XL and Ellen ten Damme). He also produced ‘Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde’ and makes his B-Movie Orchestra sound even better than before!!
