English version

The duo Tangi Le Gall-Carre and Erwan Moal plays folk from Brittany on diatonic accordion and guitar. On their début album they are assisted by ‘friends‘, guest musicians on bass guitar, saxophone, violin, uileann pipes and percussion.

They met in 2007 en played together in different groups and recorded the album ‘El-TaQa’ with the group Startijenn. On their recording ‘Le Gall-Carre / Moal & Friends!’ they are the are the center of the music in a shining appearence. Dance music from Brittany like reels, jigs en polka’s. Especially the vals (waltz) are extremely beautiful. Wonderful theme’s with no end, like a perpetuüm mobilé with an endless melody (Vals Ann-Mi). Although the music of this young couple is not innovative, there are some fresh musical inventions. For example the use of the tabla (Indian drum) gives the music a special color added with phonetic vocals in the opening song ‘Ton ar Sauzon‘. Like the ‘daf’ (hand drum) in ‘Nauned e Breizh‘ which gives this West France music a broad horizon. Remarkable is the way how these musicians play their instruments. Le Gall-Carre gives his accordion wings, plays very loosly with lovely solistic ornaments like the guitar Moal who plays transparent with wonderful solo’s. They wrote all the songs in which they touch the heart of the folk from Brittany. Music which, how joyfull it might be, always sounds a little nostalgic. I love it!
