English version

‘Modus Operandi’ is the début-cd of Trio Dhoore. Three musicians form Belgium, the brothers Koen, Ward and Hartwin Dhoore. Since 2010 they give concerts around Europe under their own name. Folk, played by a Celtic background on guitar, mandolin, accordion, bagpipes and hurdy-gurdy. Very useful for the balfolk: a dance night with (traditional) folk music.

I saw Trio Dhoore play at 28th Scottisch Weekend at Bilzen (Belgium), september 2012. At the yard of castle Alden-Biesen I heard marvelous and sparkling music, played by these young and talented musicians, who know their music very well, that was obvious. Nobody danced, although the music was very uplifting. Trio Dhoore plays balfolk, inspired by Breton music, usualy played on balfolk dance evenings which were organised from the mid ’90’s in Belgium and the Netherlands. They play their own compositions which sound very familiar to the traditional repertoire. But these guys play with verve that show a lot of sympathy. Catchy melodies, clever modulations and miraculous playing touches the pores of your skin. These educated musicians bring their music with contemporary comfort and so they win in popularity. The opening song ‘Kallis’ and ‘De Kollebloem’ are very melodic, ‘Coffee Break’ played on guitar solo or ‘DMG/Pater…’ with a bagpipe feature give away the modus operandi of their first cd. Trio Dhoore plays fresh folk, only on three instruments. Lovely composed with inventive arrangements. In fact, between the notes you hear more music than there really is, which gives the music wings like a musical mystery!
